Description

The Rigol DG4162 is two channel function / arbitrary waveform generator to create high-quality signals up to 160 MHz (Sine). Besides the analog output, the device includes a USB-Host- and a USB-device and a LAN interface. The Rigol Function-generators have a sophisticated and easy to use interface and offer multiple functions for all tasks. The menu navigation is very intuitive and all functions and parameters are easy to locate thanks to the graphical interface.

DG4000 Series Waveform Generators

DG4000 series is a multifunctional generator that combines many functions in one, including Function Generator, Arbitrary Waveform Generator, Pulse Generator, Harmonic Generator, Analog/Digital Modulator, and Counter. All of the 3 models have two channels with complete equivalent functions and precisely phase adjustable, they are the real dual-channel signal generator.

DG4000, adopting the Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) technology, can provide stable, precise, pure and low distortion signals. The user-friendly interface design and panel layout bring users an exceptional experience. Besides, the remote control of the generator can be easily done through different standard configuration interfaces, which provides more solutions for users. experience. Besides, the remote control of the generator can be easily done through different standard configuration interfaces, which provides more solutions for users.

As Rigol’s newest waveform generator, the DG4000 series is part of a new family of fast, easy-to-use, ultra-modern testing instruments. DG4000 is a multifunctional generator that helps accomplish a range of testing by combining many functions into one instrument. Functions include Function Generation, Arbitrary Waveform Generation, Pulse Generation, Harmonic Generation, and Analog/Digital Modulation and Counting. The DG4000 utilizes Direct Digital Synthesizer (DDS) technology, which delivers stable, precise, low distortion signals. The sleek new design features a high resolution 7” display screen, while user-friendly interface design and panel layout improve efficiency.

  1. AC Power Input
This generator can accept AC power supply of 100-240V, 45-440Hz.Power Fuse: 250V, T2 A.
  2. LAN
Connect the generator to the local area network for remote control through this interface. This generator conforms to LXI-C instrument standards and can quickly build a test system with other devices to easily realize system integration.
  3. Security Lock Hole
Users can use the security lock (buy it by themselves) to lock the instrument at a fixed location.
  4. USB Device
PC can be connected through this interface to control the generator remotely through PC software.
  5. 10MHz In/Out
BNC female connector with 50Ω nominal impedance. The function of this connector is determined by the type of clock used by the generator. DG4000 can use an internal or external clock (refer to the introduction in Clock Source ).
    • When the internal clock source is used, the connector (used as 10MHz Out) can output a 10MHz clock signal generated by the internal crystal oscillator of the generator.
    • When the external clock source is used, the connector (used as 10MHz In) accepts a 10MHz external clock signal.
    • This connector is usually used to synchronize multiple instruments (refer  to the introduction in Sync).
  6. CH1: Mod/FSK/Trig
BNC female connector with 50Ω nominal impedance. Its function is determined by the current working mode of CH1.
    • Mod:
If AM, FM, PM, PWM or OSK is enabled for CH1 and external modulation source is used, this connector accepts an external modulation signal.
    • FSK:
If ASK, FSK or PSK is enabled for CH1 and external modulation source is used, this connector accepts an external modulation signal (users can set the polarity of the signal).
    • Trig In:
If CH1 is in sweep or burst mode and external trigger source is used, this connector accepts an external trigger signal (users can set the polarity of the signal).
    • Trig Out:
If CH1 is in sweep or burst mode and internal or manual trigger source is used, this connector outputs a trigger signal with a specified edge.
  7. CH2: Mod/FSK/Trig
BNC female connector with 50Ω nominal impedance. Its function is determined by the current working mode of CH2.
    • Mod:
If AM, FM, PM, PWM or OSK is enabled for CH2 and external modulation source is used, this connector accepts an external modulation signal.
    • FSK:
If ASK, FSK or PSK is enabled for CH2 and external modulation source is used, this connector accepts an external modulation signal (users can set the polarity of the signal).
    • Trig In:
If CH2 is in sweep or burst mode and external trigger source is used, this connector accepts an external trigger signal (users can set the polarity of the signal).
    • Trig Out:
If CH2 is in sweep or burst mode and internal or manual trigger source is used, this connector outputs a trigger signal with a specified edge.
  8. External Signal Input (Counter)
BNC female connector with 50Ω nominal impedance. It is used to accept an external signal to be measured by the counter.
Standard identical 2 channels with frequency and phase coupling

The extra-large display with a diagonal size of 17.18 cm (7″) and a resolution of 800 x 480 pixels can easily display the details from both channels of the device. Both channels feature the full range of functions and can be synchronized phase-dependently. This function turns the device into a true dual-channel generator.

Arbitrary waveform function and built-in 150 waveforms

Almost any waveform can be reproduced by using the arbitrary signal generator. The operation of the device is simplified enormously by the 150 pre-defined waveforms.

Abundant analog and digital modulation functions

Since the DG4000 series function generators feature two independent channels that can be synchronized, it is also possible to output analog and digital waveforms simultaneously.

Various sweep modes

The DG4000 signal generators can cycle through defined frequency ranges at a constant amplitude and output various basic waveforms at the same time, such as sine, square, ramp, and arbitrary signals.

Up to 16 orders customized Harmonic generation function

The function generators can generate harmonic overtone signals up to the 16th order, with adjustable parameters such as frequency, amplitude, and phase for all frequencies. Even, odd, all, or user-defined harmonics can be generated.

Standard high-resolution counter function

These devices feature a standard high-resolution frequency counter. It can measure the frequency, period, positive and negative pulse length, and the duty cycle – all at frequencies ranging from 1 µHz to 200 MHz.

The statistic analysis function of counter

The frequency counter features a history and statistics function with which signal changes over time can be detected and visualized.
