The Problem

Electrostatic discharge (ESD) events are problematic in electronics manufacturing, where damage to sensitive circuits can compromise product quality and reliability, and in hazardous environments, where ignition of flammable or explosive materials can be catastrophic. Currently available products for ESD prevention hamper mobility, lack reliability and fail to provide actionable data.

Solution

At IONA we believe that accurate measurement of electrostatic charge buildup is critical to preventing ESD events. The StatIQ Band is an unobtrusive device worn on the engineer or technician’s upper arm, which uses an electric field mill of unprecedented size and accuracy to measure the user’s electrostatic charge. It features an audible alarm that alerts the user when a given body voltage threshold is exceeded, or when an electrostatic discharge as low as 100V is experienced, far below what is physically perceptible. Data can be analyzed in a mobile app or aggregated for analysis in a cloud-based dashboard, which enables QA managers to monitor ESD conditions and incidents in their workplace like they never have before.
