RF Master Test Kit with SiteHawk (SK-6000-TC) and SignalHawk (SH-60S-AOA)

The Bird Master RF Test kit provides all the necessary equipment needed for field technicians and engineers for installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of coaxial cable and antenna systems and analysis of system performance.

This comprehensive exclusive kit provides coverage with the SiteHawk Cable and Antenna Analyzer, SignalHawk Spectrum Analyzer, as well as a power sensor, calibration combo and all must have connection needs with an assortment of adapters, and cables all housed in an organized case.

Two versions of Master RF Kit available

Bird offers two versions of its Master RF Test Kit. These packages are the same except for the SignalHawk spectrum analyzer included.

  •  SK-SH-KIT – includes standard SignalHawk, model SH-60S-TC
  •  SK-SH-KITA – includes SignalHawk with AoA technology (Angle of Arrival) for triangulation of interference, model SH-60S-AOA

SiteHawk cable and antenna analyzer – model SK-6000-TC (1MHz – 6GHz)

Get the most out of your communication networks with SiteHawk. This powerful device offers critical coverage and a wide frequency range, ensuring you have the ability to find any discrepancies in your cables and connectors.

Discontinuities can be a real problem and cause significant reflections by damaged cables, loose or improperly installed connectors, and environmental factors. With Bird’s DTF (Distance to Fault) mode, SiteHawk finds the exact location of the problem “in true distance units”.

Eliminate wasted time swapping out components until you determine the issue. Save critical time, components, and money by correctly identifying issues the first time to efficiently direct vital resources to implement solutions.

Examples of an antenna frequency response sweep in return loss and VSWR

The SiteHawk can be easily used for an antenna frequency response sweep, using markers and a limit line allow for a fast and accurate reading. Nothing has been changed in each sweep except for the Mode from Return Loss to SWR.

Distance to fault

The SiteHawk can also be for Distance to Fault (DTF) measurements which shows the location of any problems in the antenna system. This is shown in either feet or meters from the cable end connected to the SiteHawk.

The trace can display the entire length (distance) of the cable system being measured or a smaller portion of the length for better detail. It is very helpful to have a diagram of your system so that components can be identified, although obtaining such a diagram will not always be possible.

SignalHawk spectrum analyzer with AOA technology – model SH-60S-AOA (9kHz – 6GHz)

The Bird SH-60S-AOA provides the ability to triangulate the location of an interferer on a map for signals between 9 kHz and 6 GHz. Integrating digital maps, GPS location and signal strength vectoring, the SignalHawk AOA provides an easy-to-use interface to pinpoint potential in-band interferers, “rogue” broadcast locations and dead spots.

Field engineers, technicians, wireless equipment manufacturers, service providers, contractors, and military personnel can triangulate the source of an interferer by utilizing Bird’s AOA (Angle of Arrival) technology. Being highly portable enables the user to go remote locations to accurately pinpoint the signal origination. In today’s crowded RF spectrum, this cutting edge technology can quickly and efficiently stop unwanted, accidental or prohibited interface that can degrade RF communication or completely disrupt signal quality and system performance.

Understanding AOA and triangulation

AOA stands for “Angle of Arrival”, also known as automatic direction finding. It is the direction from which an RF Signal is received and is used to discover the location of an interfering signal, such as an unlicensed radio transmission, or other types of generators, producing RF signals disrupting lawful transmissions.

AOA measurement locates and senses the direction of the arriving transmitting signal, then calculates the relative orientation or angle.

AOA uses a technique called Triangulation, where a signal strength sample is recorded in different locations, and the position is marked on a map, forming a triangle. A minimum of three or more samples, or Vectors, are recorded, and where they intersect, the interfering signal is found.

For more information on AoA and triangulation, please see the document linked here.

5017D-AV wideband power sensor

The 5017D-AV, 100 MHz – 1.3 GHz RF Power Sensor never requires field calibration, only requires calibration once per year and is traceable to National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST). The WPS measures True Average Power, Peak Power, and Duty Cycle directly with exceptional accuracy and uses these precise measurements to calculate a wide range of other important factors, such as VSWR, Return Loss, Reflection Coefficient, Crest Factor, Average Burst Power, and CCDF.
