Designed for comfortable, one-handed operation in the field, the AMS Trex communicator is packaged in an evenly-balanced form factor with a rugged hand strap so you can easily hold it, even when working in tight spaces. With built-in USB and WiFi connectivity, it’s easy to move data to and from the communicator using the connectivity option that is most convenient. The robust lithium-ion battery will keep it running for hours, well over a full shift, even when it is being used to power other devices in the field.

Improve efficiency with the modern, intuitive user experience that includes a larger display, touchscreen, and task-based UI. Do more with one tool

The Trex unit includes built-in functionality to power devices. Simply connect the communicator to a loose instrument to power it. Don’t waste time looking for a power supply or confirming adequate loop resistance before testing. Powering a device from the Trex unit isolates it from the rest of the system, helping pinpoint installation issues, including power supply, wiring, I/O cards, or configuration.

Power the loop functionality also allows device configuration in the field on new projects – even before power and I/O infrastructure are in place – helping to keep device configuration off critical path.

The Trex unit has two options for communication modules – Device Communicator and Device Communicator Plus.

The Device Communicator communication module can connect to and communicate with HART and FOUNDATION fieldbus devices on an externally powered HART loop or fieldbus segment. The Device Communicator communication module has unique terminals for both HART and FOUNDATION fieldbus devices.

The Device Communicator Plus communication module can connect to HART and FOUNDATION fieldbus devices, measure current and voltage, and power a device.

A. Connect to externally powered FOUNDATION fieldbus devices.

B. Connect to externally powered HART devices.

The Device Communicator Plus communication module can connect to HART and FOUNDATION fieldbus devices, measure current and voltage, and power a device.

A. Power a FOUNDATION fieldbus device.

B. Connect to a FOUNDATION fieldbus device that is externally-powered or powered by the Trex unit.

C. Measure current on a 4-20 mA current loop.

D. Power and connect to a HART device. The HART+pwr terminals can measure the current output of a connected transmitter or control the current input to a connected positioner. The terminals also have a loop resistor for device communication.

E. Connect to an externally-powered HART device. The HART terminals also have an optional loop resistor for enabling HART communications on 4-20 current loop and optional current control for moving a positioner.

Emerson offers 1 and 3 year Premium or Standard support options for its TREX communicator.

Premium Supports also provides “Extended Repair Coverage” which includes:

• Internal component repairs
• Accidental Damage Coverage which covers:
• Only one incident in a given 12-month period is allowed per unit under Premium Support.
• Liquid spilled on or in unit
• Drops, falls, and other collisions
• Damage caused by electrical surge
• Damaged or broken LCD due to a drop or fall
• Blown fuse in ammeter

The following items are NOT covered:

• Intentional damage (such as hammer marks)
• Normal wear
• Cosmetic damage
• Theft

The optional Radar Master app enables you to ensure the measurement and configuration accuracy of your Rosemount radar level transmitters by bringing the power of Radar Master software to the field. Use dynamic graphics to verify configurations while protecting the safety of your personnel and assets

The optional WirelessHART Provisioning app allows you to provision wireless networks in less time, with less chance of error and in a more secure fashion. The app can configure hundreds of devices with a push of a button, improving accuracy and allowing you to provision an entire network up to 6x faster.
