Capacitance Decade Box
The Extech 380405 Capacitance Decade Box is very popular for product design testing and calibration because it can be substituted into a circuit and function in the place of any component with a standard value quite easily. Alternatively, it can also be used to identify the best value for circuit operation and then read that value from the switches. Then, a capacitor of the size indicated by the decade box switches can then be put into the circuit.
The concept of the decade box works well with a number of component types, greatly accelerating the trial and error process. However you are likely to find that the arrangement of switches can vary. This device measures 4.6 x 5.7 x 1.4″ (H x W x D), and the case may be grounded separately. Three binding posts permit isolated substitutions. The 380405 comes with a one-year limited warranty.
