Hakko FR872-03 – Four Bank IR Preheater (1440W)

The Hakko FR872-03 4-Bank IR PCB Preheater has a low-profile bench top design and used to elevate the temperature of printed circuit board assemblies so that the components on them can be soldered and de-soldered more easily with improved results. It’s useful on medium to high-mass boards, which can heat-sink a significant amount of energy being supplied by a soldering iron tip or hand-held hot air tool and lead-free assemblies. This pre-heater uses high efficiency carbon filament IR heating lamps and has 4 independently controlled heating zones that cover a total of 8.8″ x 10.5″ for a large effective heating area.

The Hakko FR872-03 4-Bank IR PCB Preheater also features a manual and auto operation mode and a ramp control feature that controls the ramp rate of the PCB when using either of the thermocouple modes for temperature control. In the auto operation mode it follows a 3-heating zone profile that can be programmed into the system with up to 20 possible profiles. Along with that this preheater is controlled by power percentage or thermocouple for closed-loop feedback of the PCB heating, has soft EPO to protect assemblies, and has integration capabilities with the Hakko FR-803B hot air and FM-206 rework systems with the use of a connecting cable

Larger heating area for large-size boards

The heating area has been split into four zones that can be independently activated, making it possible to heat all of the board or only necessary areas when reworking large boards or to turn off unnecessary areas when reworking small boards.

New high efficiency heating elements increase preheat performance striking a balance to mitigate IR shadowing while reducing glare from full spectrum heaters.

Board attachment guides can be adjusted easily to suit the size of the board.

Boards can be attached and removed easily after the guides have been adjusted to fit.
