Decoding the part number

While there are a large number of tips in this series, Hakko follows a standard naming convention which makes it easier to identify and locate the products needed for your application.

After the T39, there is one or more letters which designate the shape. This is followed by a series of numbers which indicate dimensional information.

Some of the most common letter designations are as follows:

•  B – conical
•  BC – bevel
•  BCF – bevel, tinned on face only
•  BCM – bevel, with a dent on the cut surface (for drag soldering)
•  D – chisel
•  I – conical, similar to shape B but thinner
•  J – bent
•  K – knife

Using the T39-D32 as an example, T39 indicates the T39 product series, D indicates a chisel shape and the 32 refers to its 3.2mm width.
