Description
Pico CM3 KIT – Current Data Logger with 3 Current Clamps

- High accuracy with 24 bit resolution
- Current range covering 0 to 200 A
- Multiple units can be run on a single computer
- Options of power over Ethernet/USB
- With PicoLog data logging software
The new PicoLog CM3 USB/Ethernet Current Data Logger is a compact, easy-to-use instrument for measuring the current consumption of buildings and machinery. With three channels, high accuracy and low noise, it is ideal for recording data from both single-phase and three-phase AC supplies. The logger is supplied complete with three AC current clamps and all necessary software. The USB and Ethernet interfaces allow the logger to be used as a USB-only device, as a USB-powered device with Ethernet interface, or as a Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) device. Using the Ethernet interface, the PicoLog CM3 can be located anywhere on a LAN or on the internet.
CM3 Current Data Logger
The PicoLog CM3 is a three-channel data logger that uses industry-standard current clamps. Simply connect to your PC via USB or Ethernet, run the supplied software and you can monitor and log current for a wide range of applications.
- Suitable for single or three-phase alternating currents
- Non-invasive measurement
- High resolution and accuracy
- No power supply required
- USB and Ethernet interfaces
- Run multiple units on a single PC

Typical applications
- Mains power monitoring
- Three-phase load balancing
- Long-term energy use recording
- Energy and cost saving / ISO14001 monitoring

Flexible, expandable software included
Your PicoLog CM3 Current Data Logger is supplied with PicoLog data logging software. With PicoLog you can collect up to one million measurements, analyze them and then display the results in spreadsheet and graphical formats.
PicoLog can record data from multiple PicoLog data loggers at the same time. This allows you to collect up to 60 channels of current. You can even mix and match different PicoLog units to record a mix of current, temperature, voltage and other signals.
A software development kit (SDK) is also supplied. The SDK contains a range of software drivers and example code that you can use to write your own software or to use your PicoLog CM3 with third-party software such as LabVIEW.
Both PicoLog and the SDK are provided free of charge and updates can be downloaded for free.

Non-invasive current clamps
The CM3 measures current using industry-standard AC current clamps. These clamps have opening jaws so can be installed in seconds with no physical connection to high voltages. AC current clamps require no power supply or batteries so are ideal for long-term energy-use monitoring and logging.
Pico supply 200 A and 400 A AC current clamps as standard. If you need to measure higher currents we will be happy to advise on suitable clamps for your application.
The CM3 is available on its own so you can add your own current clamps or as a cost-saving kit with three 200 A clamps included.

USB or Ethernet connection for local or remote logging
With both USB and Ethernet interfaces your PicoLog CM3 can be used in a variety of situations. If you need a portable instrument that can be used at various locations and is fast to set up and use, simply connect your laptop to the PicoLog CM3 by USB. No external power supply is required as the CM3 is powered from the USB port.
Need to monitor a situation over a period of hours or days, or from a remote location? Plug your PicoLog CM3 into a spare port on your network and then access it remotely either from your LAN or over the internet. When using Ethernet the CM3 can be powered either by Power over Ethernet (PoE) or by using the USB connection just for power.

PicoLog CM3 Data Logger Software
PicoLog CM3 Software
PicoLog data acquisition software is a powerful but flexible program for collecting, analyzing and displaying data.
- Collect up to 1 million samples
- Easy and intuitive to use
- Real-time data collection, analysis and display
- Programmable alarm limits can be set for each channel
- Data can be exported to spreadsheets and databases
- Supports multiple different Pico data loggers on the same PC
- Uses your PC monitor to give large color display, ideal for education and training
- Waveforms can be saved, printed or emailed from your PC
- Supports Windows XP, 7 & 8

PicoLog views
PicoLog displays data in a number of views, which can be activated as and when required. These views can be activated both during and after data collection.
Notes view
Notes view allows you to attach notes to data.
Recorder view
Enables you to start/stop recording and specify recording files. It shows the current readings and alarm conditions for each channel. All settings such as scaling, channels and sampling are controlled from the recorder view.
Spreadsheet view
Displays text data in a format that can be easily copied and pasted into other applications. Data can also be saved to disk in standard ASCII text format.
Graph view
Graphs can be displayed both during and after data collection. Each channel can be displayed in its own graph or multiple channels can be displayed in the same graph. Axes can be set up manually, automatically or in chart recorder mode. Multipliers allow you to magnify areas of interest. Graphs can be copied and then pasted into reports.
XY graph view
Displays one parameter against another. Useful for plotting voltage against current, for example.
Player view
Displays previously recorded data. It enables you to scroll quickly through stored files to compare results on successive runs. The player can be used to examine old data while new data is still being recorded.
Exporting data and remote logging
Data can easily be transferred (either as graphs or raw data) to other Windows applications by using the clipboard (copy and paste). Graphs can also be saved to disk (as Windows Metafiles) and data from the spreadsheet can be saved in text format. PicoLog data acquisition software also supports IP networking. This enables remote data collection from Pico’s full range of data acquisition products.

Scaling and alarms
Parameter scaling can be used to convert raw data into standard engineering units. A wide range of equation and table lookup scaling options are provided. Additional parameters can be calculated. For example, to calculate power output from a boiler you may need to multiply a flow reading from one channel with the temperature difference between two further channels. Alarm limits can be set for each channel to alert the user should a parameter go out of a specified range.

Software Development Kit (SDK)
As well as the supplied PicoLog software, also included are drivers and examples for those who want to write your own software or interface to other programs. Software drivers are supplied for Microsoft Windows, Apple Mac (OS X) and Linux (including Raspberry Pi and BeagleBone).
Example code shows how to interface to third-party software packages such as Microsoft Excel and National Instruments LabVIEW as well as how to write your own software in C++ / C#.
