The Thermo Scientific Countertop GPF meets the standards established by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) program. SNAP evaluates chemicals that are harmful to the ozone and the health of human beings, regulating those chemicals – in this case refrigerants — and approving those that are environmentally safe while prohibiting the use of older refrigerants. The Thermo Scientific Countertop GPF features approved natural refrigerants and insulating materials, well in advance of any phase-out deadlines set by the EPA.
