LTE Module for 177X Series
The Fluke 177X-LTE MODULE is an LTE communication module for Fluke 177X series instruments that allows users to communicate with their instrument from any location (instrument must be located close enough to a compatible cell tower). The communication with the instrument can be via Fluke Energy Analyze plus application software or a VNC client.
The Fluke 177X includes a VNC server which mimics the user interface of the instrument including the touch targets and the physical buttons on the instrument. When the user runs a VNC client to the IP address of the instrument a mimic window appears on screen where users can see instrument readings or control the instrument by pressing the virtual controls. This provides a convenient way to manage many instruments located in remote locations.
LTE Module Installation
The module is installed directly into the instrument. Please note, a suitable antenna is required for communication (sold separately). These are readily available from local suppliers.
The image shows the instrument with the LTE Module in the designated slot of the 177X. Two crosshead screws secure the module in place.
As shown, an SMA to CMX connector lead (sold separately) has been inserted into the slot. The antenna input has an SMA socket for guaranteed safety. There are antennas that can connect directly to SMA, but many antennas have a CMX connector.

Additional Requirements for Communication
- A suitable antenna with an SMA plug for connection to the instrument
- A suitable SIM card with subscription to a network operator (supplier needs to offer a SIM card with fixed IP address) or IoT SIM with contacts
Note, if the instrument is mounted inside an electrical cabinet a suitable Category rated antenna extension cable will be required due to the risk of high voltage on the antenna. Fluke offers a CAT IV rated cable: 177X ANTENNA CABLE 5M.
Connectivity
When using basic connectivity, the IP address of the SIM card becomes the primary point of connection. When the LTE module is plugged into the instrument the IP address of the instrument will be visible in the Communications Info that is available to access from the main instrument home screen by pressing the I button on the left-hand side of the screen. This details the state of the Ethernet, Wi-Fi/BLE and Cellular Modem devices; in the last an IP address will be indicated. An APN will need to be set which will come from your service provider. This information can be entered into Fluke Energy Analyze+ application software.
