Spectrafuge™ 16M complete with 18 x 1.5ml rotor, 120V, Standard Gray
Labnet’s high-speed Spectrafuge ™ 16M is the culmination of many years of centrifuge design experience combined with the latest brushless drive technology. In the development process, we sought out our customers’ input and produced a microcentrifuge that met all their requirements. The result is a remarkably quiet and cool running unit that requires a minimum of bench space. Although the Spectrafuge is a high-performance, brushless microcentrifuge, it is priced below most brush models.
Brushless motor
The Spectrafuge 16M is powered by a maintenance-free brushless motor. There are no brushes to change and no carbon dust emissions. This high-performance motor is extremely quiet and generates a minimal amount of heat while running. It also allows for exceptionally fast acceleration and deceleration of the rotor.
Cool operation
The unique air ducting system in the Spectrafuge 16M supplies a continuous flow of ambient air to the rotor chamber. This airflow keeps the rotor cool and prevents a significant rise in sample temperature. For applications requiring conditions below ambient, the Spectrafuge 16M can be used in refrigerated environments.
Precise control
Variable speed across a broad range makes the Spectrafuge 16M valuable for a variety of applications including microfiltration and separation of proteins and nucleic acids. Speeds from 1,000rpm (85 x g) to 14,000rpm (16,000 x g) are quickly and precisely selected with the speed control knob. The operation may be timed, continuous, or momentary. The centrifuge will run at the preset speed regardless of the chosen mode.
Complete package
The Spectrafuge 16M is supplied complete with an 18-place angle rotor for microtubes which is easily removed for cleaning and autoclaving. The rotor accepts a wide variety of microtubes, including those with screw caps and skirted bottoms. Smaller tubes (200µl to 500µl) are accommodated with the available adapters. Our new StripSpin ™ adapter, available separately, snaps easily onto the 18-place rotor for processing 0.2ml PCR ® strips or individual 0.2ml tubes.
