The Megger MIT320 is a Insulation and Continuity Tester designed for tough applications. The Megger MIT320 has a safety interlock system to prevent unsafe connection of test leads. It is rubber armored and has a double hinge solid lid to protect the screen and fold away when the MIT320 is in use. It’s also much safer thanks to having a switch placed on the test probe, meaning you can spend more time keeping your eyes on the job in hand.

Megger’s MIT320 is an advanced Insulation and Continuity tester that can be used to carry out insulation testing, continuity testing, voltage measurement and resistance measurements.

The MIT320 is built for use in a wide variety of applications and comes housed in its protective casing. It’s also incredibly easy to use, and all you have to do to is connect up some test leads, choose which test you want to use using the rotary dial and press the test button to initiate. Results are displayed on the backlit LCD screen both as a digital reading and as an analogue arc.

When carrying out insulation testing this device has three available ranges: 250, 500 and 1000V with test range of 999MΩ. The device is also the first in Megger’s MIT300 range to feature an insulation limit alarm (from 0.01MΩ to 999MΩ).

The Megger MIT320 is also the first model in this series of insulation and continuity testers to include an adjustable buzzer and buzzer disable features when carrying out continuity testing, and this device can be used to carry out continuity tests to 100Ω. This feature also includes lead null to 9Ω.

This device also includes the ability to measure volts (AC and DC) to 600V and resistance from 10Ω to 1MΩ.

Developed specifically to meet the needs of today’s electrical contractors, the new MIT300 insulation and continuity tester from Megger is not only durable and easy to use, but also incorporates a comprehensive set of features designed to ensure operator safety, even under conditions of accidental misuse.

Large 20mm high characters provide very clear readout, combined with an analogue arc for the feel of an analogue instrument, with a true analogue response. Rugged construction with an impact-resistant, rubber-overmolded case and innovative circuitry guarantees high accuracy combined with stability of calibration.

The MIT300 offers automatic discharge of the circuit after testing, audible and visual warning if the test probes are applied to a live circuit, and a test inhibit feature which operates automatically under live circuit conditions. The unit also conforms fully to IEC 61010-1 for use in Category III 600V applications, and provides all of the facilities needed to meet insulation testing requirements relating to the current edition of the IEE Wiring Regulations.

Safety features

To protect the user and the tester from incorrect use the MIT series all have an extensive range of features known as the Megger Intelligent Safety System including:

• Safety Interlock – prevents unsafe connection of test leads
• Safe contact detectors – Even if the MIT is connected to alive circuit hilst on continuity setting the tester will remain safe and not be damaged.
• Live voltage warning – alerts the operator when a circuit voltage over 2 5 V exists.
• Safety lockout – Prevents the test from operating when the circuit voltage is >50 V.
• Continuity check – prevents a continuity test or buzzer test on a live circuit.

Functionality

• A Job reference number can be selected for a range of results, allowing separate locations to be tested with the same tester and easily separated when downloaded.
• A memory bar graph acts as a ‘Fuel Gauge’ showing how much memory has been used
• Test results are downloaded to CSV (Coma Separated Variable) spreadsheets, and can be imported into Microsoft Excel. If certificates or reports are required, the results can be downloaded directly into Megger Powersuite Professional with a range of features for creating professionally finished documentation.
